Yorkshire Futures Upcoming Research

Yorkshire Futures have a number of key research projects which are due to report in the forthcoming months.

Age matters: realising the potential of an ageing population
This research by Experian examines the challenges and opportunities brought about by our ageing population in the region.  The study is due to be published in the next few weeks.

Developing an Ecosystems Approach for the Yorkshire and Humber Strategy
The study, being undertaken by the University of York and URSUS, examines what ‘sustainable economic growth that is within environmental limits’ may mean for the region, by applying an ecosystem services approach.  This will include developing a suite of indicators to monitor the state of ecosystem services in the region. The study is due to be completed by the end of March 2010.

Flood Resilient Development : Principles, Feasibility and Potential
This study by Maslen Environmental looks at good practice in development in areas at risk of flooding and the economic and policy implications of development in these areas. It is due for completion at the end of March 2010.

High-Level Skills in Yorkshire and Humber: understanding the drivers of change
This research will examine the underlying drivers of high-level skill development in regions and conduct a synthesis of current evidence on what works.  The research is being carried out by ekosgen and Sheffield Hallam University, and is due to be published at the end of May 2010.

Citizens Panels
We continue to run regular on-line surveys on perceptions of personal finance and surveys on particular topics.  The most recent of these supplements is the ‘Age matters’ report with further information about the experiences and attitudes of older people.
