Finance Focus 2 - Tracking Perceptions of Personal Finances in Yorkshire and Humber       

This latest survey suggests no worsening in economic conditions or expectations for the future since three months ago. In some areas there has been a very slight improvement, but it is still too early to say whether this reflects a real improvement in the economy or just a slight moderation in the extreme pessimism seen in January.

Yorkshire’s Progress Report - an improving performance in difficult times       

Hilary Benn, Minister of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, joined over 200 delegates attending the launch of the 'Progress in the Region' report. The report compares how the region is performing on a wide range of economic, environmental and social indicators.

Young Migrants

Refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in Yorkshire and Humber, 1999 -2008       

This new report is the first in the region to comprehensively bring together research on refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, found that over 120 studies have been carried out in Yorkshire and Humber, demonstrating a rich base of knowledge on migrants.

Labour Market Statistics - May 2009       

Labour Force Survey data for Yorkshire and the Humber indicate that the trend the employment rate is decreasing , and the rate in the latest period is significantly lower than a year ago. The trend in the unemployment rate is increasing, and the latest rate is significantly higher than a year ago.

Monthly Policy Briefing - April 2009       

This month’s briefing begins with an overview of the 2009 Budget, delivered on 22 April. This is followed by Sustainable and Competitive Business, which includes a summary of the new Government strategy for the economy, Building Britain’s Future. There have been significant policy developments and new research published in relation to Jobs, including details of the Future Jobs Fund and an assessment of the early impacts of Flexible New Deal. The publication of a number of new documents outlining the Government’s approach to a low carbon economy, in particular Investing in low carbon Britain, are covered in the Transport, Infrastructure and Environment section, and the briefing concludes with a series of articles relating to the Response to the Recession, including information on the outcome of the London G20 Summit.
