Futures

Welcome to the Futures section of the website.

While no one can predict what will happen, ‘futures research’ can help us to identify opportunities and potential risks and therefore can be a vital tool in assisting policymakers in developing strategies to manage the region’s future better.

A key function of Yorkshire Futures work is to undertake and coordinate forward looking research to help prepare the region for the future. In order to do this effectively the futures programme was set up and consists of four functions:

  • Gather Futures reports and data
  • Host Futures lunch discussion events (held three times year, various topics to stimulate debate and action around futures issues)
  • Develop scenarios
  • Provide econometric data forecasts via the Chief Economist Unit - Yorkshire Forward

If you would like further information regarding the Futures Programme, please contact Catherine Brooks, Research and Futures Executive, email: catherine.brooks@yorkshirefutures.com
