Local Government Yorkshire and Humber (LGYH) is the regional partnership of local authorities, including fire and police authorities, across the region. It brings local authorities together on key issues, supports the improvement of service delivery, lobbies Government on the future of local government, promotes good employment practices, and works with local authorities to improve the public perception of local government.
The Sheffield City Region spans two Government Office boundaries and includes the four districts of South Yorkshire (Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield) and Bassetlaw, Bolsover, Chesterfield, Derbyshire Dales and North East Derbyshire districts in the East Midlands Government Office Region. The work in the city region is overseen by the Sheffield City Region Forum, which consists of representatives of the local authorities mentioned above as well as the Derbyshire County Council, Nottingham County Council and the Peak District National Park Authority.
The York and North Yorkshire sub-region includes the following local authorities: Craven, Hambleton, Harrogate, Richmond, Ryedale, Scarborough, Selby, York and North Yorkshire County Council.
York and North Yorkshire Partnership Unit is an independent unit which has been set up by partners across York and North Yorkshire. The unit's role concentrates on building an effective relationship with regional bodies, coordinating the sub-regional approach to Culture, Skills and Business Support as well as Research and EU Funding. Finally, the Unit manages the Economic Partnership for the County and District Councils.

Yorkshire and Humber Regional Environment Forum (YHREF) was formed in 2001 to coordinate and represent the views of a wide range of organisations for whom a key interest is in the enhancement of environmental conditions in the Yorkshire and Humber Region and in the social and economic value of such changes. Our purpose is to develop a shared environmental agenda for the Region and a coordinated voice to promote and lobby on environmental issues at regional level. We will achieve this by developing closer working relations between the environmental organisations and a signifcant repository for environmental expertise within the Region.
